Getting the formalities right is essential, or there could be major problems later on. We also check that you have missed nothing out and that your Will covers the future if things do not turn out quite as you expect.
Everybody should make a Will. It is not a long process, and it makes things a lot easier for your family when the time comes. When you make a Will you choose how your estate is divided, how your family is provided for, and who looks after any dependant children. You can also choose your own executors and trustees. If you do not make a Will, the State will make these decisions for you.
Probate
Dealing with legal and financial formalities after death is normally the role of an executor, which is both a privilege and a responsibility. To be asked to be an executor is a mark of trust in you. It can be hard work, take time and leave you open to personal liability. Once you accept responsibility you can't easily hand it on to someone else.
Nelsons can help you with the formalities. We will guide you through the process of winding up the estate, and agree with you a division of responsibilities. Executors often prefer us to deal with the routine correspondance, administration and accounts. If any problems arise, we have the experience to help you resolve them.
